KETTLEBAR – CAJUN & CREOLE RESTAURANT
Back again at the KettleBar in the Packing District.
Find this hidden gem called the KettleBar at 2493 Park Ave, 92782 Anaheim, CA.
We were just here last month to compare their pan roast to the world famous pan roast in Las Vegas and that was a tough call so we decided to come back again. The Oyster Bar in the Palace Station is #7 in the world if I remember correctly for the best oysters and food and I recently blogged about my time there. But I was told about this place and I had to check it out. This will be a brief review of the Kettle Bar and what I like about it.

We started with the Garlic Mussels and a glass of wine each. The mussels were great tasting and cleaned. I have been to some places that do not clean the seaweed and debris out of the mussels; nobody wants to eat rocks now. The garlic sauce was good and the extra bread came in handy to help soak up the liquid gold along with the mussels. The size of the mussels was average and made for a good appetizer.

I asked the waiter what menu items are the most popular besides the pan roast and he suggested the Po Boy is very popular so I took his word and ordered it. It came with a house salad too. I ordered the Oyster Po Boy which had fried oysters, thick cut pickles, tomatoes and the creamy sauce to bring it all together. The flavors were good when each bite had the crunchy pickles and breaded oysters and the sauce in each bite. I think I led myself to failure by ordering the mussels first and then comparing this Po Boy for the amount of seafood. There were only 4 breaded oysters in the sandwich which seems like a little amount but that is how many can fit. Maybe next time I will order extra for a “double-decker” Po Boy.

Get the pan roast bowls here. Last time I had their signature bowl the Kettle Pan Roast and it was great. This time I ordered the Lobster Pan Roast to try it out. Ordering these menu items will take some time since they make to order and you can watch them make your order at the bar if you like so take that into consideration if you are on a time constraint.

The Lobster Pan Roast will have the same great tomato based soup that is spicy if you like or mild. I ordered it “medium” and it is just right for me and my spice appreciation. With the order of lobster, there will be large chunks of fresh lobster in most of the spoonfuls so you know you are getting a good deal. Mixing the lobster pan roast into the rice ball makes for a hearty meal that can be shared and still be very filling.

Overall this place is small that seats around 50 guests but is staffed with enough servers to make sure everything is just right for you while you are there. This place has a full bar and sports on the several TV’s. Both times we were here there was not a wait to be seated which is a good thing. I would recommend you going to the KettleBar in Anaheim, CA and trying for yourself and letting me know what you think about the place!
