THE TWISTED ROOT BURGER COMPANY-WACO, TEXAS
After our sight seeing trip to the Magnolia Silos we were hungry and the a big Texas burger sounded great! We passed the building on the way earlier and can’t miss it. The Twisted Root building is completely covered in a mural and really stands out from the other local businesses.
The feel of the place is “I’m different and you will like it and come back” With funny posters and signs all over the place and the secret live of Chuck Norris this is a great place to come in and grab a bite with friends. Music videos playing on the walls which I bet will be a sports game on certain days make for a great atmosphere. I didn’t get to much info on the backstory of the place since I was hungry and the menu was already in my hand.

So many options and sides. I knew what I wanted already, that Wagyu burger or as they call it at the Twisted Root “Le Wagyu” and getting a side of fried pickles and green beans! Christina got a salad that became a big salad too.
We ordered first then sat down. The floor plan is an open plan with an island bar in the middle. From the looks of the menu and the decor of the bar they must make their own beer and drinks but not sure.
At the drink station I was thinking about getting some Ice Tea but I ended up getting some Root Beer. This is how the place has silly posters all over the place.
Christina’s Cobb Salad started out as a normal salad but the cashier and I convinced her to add a Wagyu patty on the top. She loved the salad now with the big Texas style portion now. The light and refreshing greens and the meat was a great combo with the blue cheese sprinkled around the bites.

Now back to my burger!
It came with a tomato slice that I gave to Christina since she loved them more than me. After the fact I realized there was a pickle station at the bar with different flavors. I started eating the Le Wagyu burger as they prepared it and I loved it! The meat was so soft and tender. The sweet after note from the cheese and onions. I really like how the burger is simple looking and tastes amazing and not trying too hard to be fancy or covered in sauce. The Le Wagyu burger speaks for itself and makes me happy.
Looking at the Twisted Root it looks different on the outside and the food looks good but tastes amazing to surprise most new people like me. I see all kinds of people coming into this place and it seems like the entire community comes here for lunch, a drink or to hang out with friends or out of town family.
Seeing how this is a “small” place I could see how Guy Fiery stopped by on Diners Drive-ins and Dives to do a spotlight of the Twisted Root. Guy and his show Triple D is my favorite since it shows the local mom and pop places with the best food. Long ago I started a list of places to go to follow him but I would have to take off work for a year! Some day I will get to it!
The Twisted Root in Waco Texas was a great little burger joint to stop by. If I lived nearby I could see myself and friends going there once a week! If you are nearby you should definitely stop by and check it out.
This was a busy time out here in Texas with a lot of great places we stopped at.
